Our New Home

March Update
Amazing Grace Lutheran Church is in the process of constructing a new worship and education facility at our property on Carolina Forest Blvd, adjacent to the property where Horry County has proposed to build a library and community park. Plans are being finalized and, Lord willing, construction will begin in May. This page is intended to chronicle the construction process in narrative and pictorial form. Check back often to see what is happening!!

May Update
Last week, our Construction Loan Application was approved and financing for the project will be provided through the WELS Church Extension Fund (our national church body’s loaning/lending agency). It is with heartfelt joy that we lift our hearts and voices to God, praising him for bringing us to this step in our Building Project. Construction will begin in the coming weeks or month as the necessary paperwork and permits are secured.

Before construction begins, we will break ground on our church property for our initial building on Sunday, June 6h following worship.You ask, what is groundbreaking? The groundbreaking ceremony, on our church property, sets apart this property for the building of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church and the gospel ministry that will be conducted on our property for the glory of God’s name and the edification of God’s people.

We thank God for this step in our project and look forward his continued blessing on our Building Project.

June Update
On Sunday June 6th, the members of Amazing Grace gathered on their church property for groundbreaking. After words of dedication and prayer, ground was broken by Pastor Zahn, Valentino Cuison (Head Elder), and John Malia (Building Chair). To watch a video of the groundbreaking click here

July Update
Amazing Grace Lutheran Church has signed the closing documents with the WELS CEF (the loan/lending agency for the building project). Currently the congregation is awaiting the County’s approval of construction drawings. Construction will commence when the permits have been issued. God willing dirt will start moving by the middle of this month.

August Update
August 23, 2010 marks the date of construction beginning on Amazing Grace’s first building. Site work has begun and will progress steadily.

September Update
Over the past week (September 20-25), below ground plumbing has been installed and inspected as well as electrical conduit. Electrical conduit and water have been run under Carolina Forest Blvd. and the footings have been dug for the building. Also, the base has been added to the parking area, which makes it much easier to drive onto the property. In the coming week we expect to see the footings and probably the concrete building pad poured.
 

October Update
The foundation has been poured after a week delay due to the tropical rains that rolled through. Framing of the church building is set to begin on Monday, October 11th. We thank God for the progress and pray for its continuation.
 

November Update
With the temperatures cooling it’s nice the work on our building will be focused on the “trade” jobs inside. The electrical work has begun this first week of November. Soon, the fire alarm and smoke detector system will be roughed in before the drywall begins around Thanksgiving time. As you pass by the job site, you will notice that the electric county has installed outdoor lighting on the property - a beautifully lit building at night. In the coming weeks, the steeple (with interior lighting) will be installed and the shingles should be finished. We are also looking forward to doors and windows being installed soon along with the exterior siding and brick work.
 

December Update
The electrical and mechanical rough-in work is being completed. Once finished an inspection will be called for so that the insulation and drywall can follow. During the month we’ve also watched the windows be installed and the glass entry to the building put in place. We have been blessed with continued progress on our project and pray it will continue.
 

January Update
The walls have been painted and tile ceiling grid has been installed. The electricians have set the lights in the classrooms, bathrooms, offices, and fellowship space. The exterior 2/3rs of the building has received two coats of paint. The front of the building will receive one more coat. At the end of this month and into February, the congregation will begin the landscape work to beautify the campus. For now, enjoy some of the pictures below that show the updated progress. “O Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his mercy endures forever.”
 

February Update
The laminate flooring has been laid in the education wing as well as the fellowship area. The ceramic tile has been laid in the bathrooms. The lighting has been installed throughout the building. On the exterior the plants and trees are now in. The parking lot will soon be paved. As each day passes, we’re one step closer to completion. For Dedication Information click here

With thankfulness to God our building project has been completed. We are grateful for everyone who assisted in the entire project to help construct our new church home.
